Dr. Angie Roa, Principal

I am honored to serve as the principal of Battle Creek Middle School and bring 29 years of experience in education, including 11 years in middle school administration. I began my career after earning my bachelor's degree from Lipscomb University and spent 18 years as an upper elementary teacher in Metro Nashville. During that time, I earned my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Cumberland University and my Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University. I later returned to my home county to serve as assistant principal at Whitthorne Middle School, where I earned my doctorate in Educational Leadership. As principal, I am committed to student growth and success, school safety, and building a positive school culture through strong partnerships with our students, staff, and families. At BCMS, our motto is to KNOW them, VALUE them, and EMPOWER them, and I look forward to a wonderful year of growth and achievement together.
Mellissa Deschamps, Assistant Principal
I graduated from Florida Southern College in 2001 before moving to Tennessee to be closer to family. After spending eight years working in social work, I began my teaching career during the 2011–12 school year. I taught 5th and 6th grade at Whitthorne Middle School for several years before continuing my education at Lipscomb University, where I pursued master’s-level work in educational leadership and technology integration.
My husband, Nick, and I have two children, Kacen and Karter. I’m excited to continue serving students and families and to be part of the BCMS community!
Adam Lopez, Assistant Principal

Originally from New Jersey, I relocated to Middle Tennessee to be closer to my wife's family. I earned my degree in History and Secondary Education, along with a Teacher of Students with Disabilities endorsement, from William Paterson University in 2015. After several years teaching and coaching wrestling, I continued my career in Special Education in Williamson County while earning my master's degree in Educational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University. My wife, Rebecca, and I have three wonderful children—Ari, Luca, and Liv—as well as our dog, Wren, and two cats, Leo and Oliver. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, working out, and cheering on my favorite teams, including the New York Yankees, New York Giants, Nashville Predators, and Tennessee Titans. As an assistant principal, I am honored to support our students, staff, and families while helping create a positive school culture where everyone can thrive.
