Mellissa Deschamps, Assistant Principal
Mellissa graduated from Florida Southern College in 2001 and moved to TN to be with her family. After eight years in social work, she entered her career as a teacher in the 2011/12 school year. Mellissa taught 5th and 6th grade at Whitthorne Middle School for several years. She continued her master's level work in educational leadership and technology integration at Lipscomb University. She and her husband Nick have two children, Kacen and Karter.
Adam Lopez, Assistant Principal
Adam is a New Jersey native who moved to Middle Tennessee to be closer to his wife, Rebecca’s family in her hometown of Franklin. Before coming to Tennessee, Adam graduated from William Paterson University in 2015 with a degree in History and Secondary Education/TSD Endorsement and taught for 4 years while coaching high school wrestling. When he relocated to Tennessee in 2020, Adam continued his career as a Special Education teacher at both the high school and elementary school level as well as continued coaching high school and middle school wrestling in Brentwood. During this time, he also earned his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University. Adam and Rebecca have two young boys, Ari and Luca, and live in Columbia. He loves spending time with his family, watching sports, and traveling. Adam is very excited to be part of the Battle Creek Middle community and looks forward to the relationships he will build with the students, faculty, and parents.
